Luke Leaman of Muscle Nerds is back again!

I love talking shop with Luke. He is a straight-shooter, and can make complex topics seem relatively simple to understand...which I massively appreciate!

Luke is a heavyweight in the fitness industry, and has definitely played a part in my development as a coach. I attended his Muscle Nerds foundations course a couple of years ago in Singapore, and anyone who has been listening to the podcast for a while knows that I say often "A healthy organism is an adaptable organism."

Luke's philosophy around training for health first, and utilising basic health markers like blood pressure, waking heart rate, and heart rate variability, has had a significant impact on my coaching and training philosophy over the last few years, and led me down a path of personal and professional growth, as well as tied in a lot of principles and philosophies I had already been using in my career.

This is an incredible conversation for those just wanting to understand what we are thinking about as coaches, but also extremely valuable content for coaches within the industry, to learn from someone who has been in the game since long before the internet became the go-to source of information.

● Poor family on welfare, eldest of 6 kids, parents didn’t work, abusive step-dad, no electricity or running water for a 6 years period of my life

● Caught up with the wrong crowd, stealing, drugs, skipping school

● At 14 years old, I sat on a bus for 3 days with $50 in my pocket, to travel to the next State over West, to begin a new life in the workforce - 2000

14 - 20: I grew up and learned how to become a man through work and rugby
20 - 26: I lived, trained and fought as a professional soldier, at a high level
26 - 32: I became a personal trainer, after failing in my pursuit to become a firefighter
32 - 38: I worked with, and won world titles with some of the best athletes on the planet, as their strength and conditioning coach
38+: The next evolution begins
